Online classroom for Anna University students – The Hindu –Education Plus -21st August 2006

There is a new way to learn Environmental Science and Engineering for seventh semester engineering students in colleges under Anna University now.

All they need to do to is log on to www.ce071classroom.com. A smart website that provides interesting nuggets of information related to the syllabus, it was launched recently at Coimbatore by Pon. Rathnavel, former faculty member of Tamil Nadu College of Engineering.

"The information provided in the site merely supplements that in textbooks," Mr. Rathnavel says.

The study material is available in HTML format. "After the audio format is made available, students can listen to lectures even while travelling, using an MP3 player/iPod."

The website also has a pool of question papers. Students can access Anna University model question papers and also question banks prepared by private parties. The site also enables students' interactionbetween one another and lecturers through its chat section. Through a special section `Answers,' students can answer questions posed by lecturers and other students. The webmaster will be available on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. for facilitating theonline tests and chats.
